Our mission is to improve the world one child at a time - right here in Basehor and Linwood. We do that by assessing our local needs and supporting initiatives that benefit our local kids.
This year, we are continuing to support the Basehor-Linwood Assistance Services (BLAS) Backpack Buddies program however we can - from helping unload groceries at the BLAS pantry to making deliveries to Grey Hawk Elementary School to packing the bags.
We are also coordinating with the City of Basehor, Basehor-Linwood Early Learning Center, a local High School student, and the United Way of Leavenworth County to install a Born Learning Trail near the Civic Campus and Early Learning Center. This interactive trail encourages literacy, education, AND healthy movement for the very young up through grade-school-aged kids. We're looking at an April 2026 installation - stay tuned for more information!
We're also looking at how we can support the library renovations, local parks, and high school students this year. And finally, we are working with the Friends of the Basehor Library to put together Kiwanis Story Stops - which are tubs of books for kids to read while they're visiting local businesses.
Keep an eye on our Upcoming Events to see more information about where you can see us around town, or check out the Calendar to see when you can attend a meeting or happy hour. We'd love to get your feedback on what our local needs for children are. If you have any ideas or feedback, don't hesitate to let us know!
